WINNETKA RESIDENCE
Winnetka, Illinois
5,500 square feet
A young Winnetka family with four children under the age of ten moved into a home built by the Secretary of the Interior during the Roosevelt Administration. This 10,000 square foot English Country Style home designed by Dwight Perkins possessed multiple amenities, but was limited in its support of contemporary living. As a result, they sought the assistance of Eastlake Studio to convert the unfinished attic into a space that could be a central living space for the entire family. A simple open space provides flexibility for use by different family members. Wanting to leave historical leaded glass windows intact, we achieved building code required insulation values by changing the pitch in the ceiling in order to maximize the amount of insulation.
