Old Post Office

Marketing suite 10N

433 W Van Buren
43,000 square feet

The Old Chicago Post Office is listed in the National Park Service’s Register of Historic Places. Not only is the exterior of the building protected, but the interiors are also subject to historic guidelines and review by the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO).

This marketing suite is located in the North Building of the Old Post Office, which historically housed the management offices of the U.S. Postal Service. One major goal of our design was to preserve and celebrate the history and character of a 1930s office building. Wood parquet floors, original green mosaic tile, and decorative trim hint at the history of the space, while modern office amenities create a space that is inviting for today’s tenants. Quickly leased after completion, this suite is bright and airy with whimsical accents, art deco motifs, and railroad track-inspired path of light. Sweeping curves and pops of pink, aqua, burgundy, and teal enhance the retro feel.

Designed during the pandemic, several adjustments were made to ensure a safer, more comfortable experience for the tenant. Large workstation areas are situated along the windows and around the lightwell. These staff work areas are flexible, punctuated by semi-private lounge and meeting spaces which can be rearranged as tenant needs change over time. Three satellite pantries reduce crowded moments in the main break room and allow tenants options and space at lunchtime.
