Tock

5th & 6th Floors
45,000 square feet

Tock, a Chicago-based subsidiary of Squarespace, quickly pivoted during the pandemic from a restaurant reservation platform to a site for takeout, becoming a life raft for many fine-dining spots in Chicago. With this dramatic shift in brand and mission came a change in Tock’s company culture. Their new headquarters nurtures hybrid work and flexibility and embraces the logic of both at-home and in-person work ingrained in their tech roots.

Just like choosing a menu item on Tock’s platform, the space offers many options of where staff can work, from phone booths to a bright cafe to plug-and-play monitors in the open office. All meeting rooms feature video technology so that communication with virtual staff is seamless. A monumental stair links two floors and represents staff connectivity and cohesion.

Tock’s minimal branding presence online keeps the focus on their restaurant clientele, and their physical headquarters echoes that simplicity with a clean design. Surrounded by street art, warehouses, and Fulton Market’s trendy dining scene, Tock’s neutral finishes direct the eye to the dynamic views of the urban scape.
