Bounding Swords, is a  grassroots  organization focused on community building through creative projects around  Chicago. Merging public exhibition space with a functioning nonprofit workplace, the design team created an innovative setting to support education, art, and social justice.

Founded in Austin Texas by a retired architect, the Chicago office includes enough square footage that they can grow over the next five years. Much of the staff works remotely on project sites about  50% of the time, and utilizes free address work areas when in the office. A few desks are assigned to administrative support who need more personal space, and work remotely less often. The plan is organized into six team neighborhoods, each with desks, and several huddle rooms that can be used as private offices if needed by director-level staff. A powerful mural wraps the core perimeter and helps guide circulation and wayfinding.

Four monochromatic spaces dedicated to  artmaking, education, productivity, and mindfulness, fill the light-filled corners of the suite, each representing different angels of self-care and community building. Two revolving exhibition spaces, one for interactive installations, and the other for the central storytelling mural, are open for public viewing, which helps the nonprofit expand their network, and garner new volunteers and financial support.
